What We Do
Acting
Playful and creative classes developing self-confidence and communication skills through the exploration of theatricality, performance techniques, and stage and screen craft. Students work with contemporary and classical texts, devising, improvisation, camera work, and physical theatre.
Aerial
Students learn the fundamentals of silks, trapeze, and hoop, with an emphasis on both safety and artistic expression. Students progressively master fundamental tricks and transitions, developing physical strength, mental focus, and discipline. Students can also choreograph their own sequences, fostering creativity and self-expression.
Please note: This is a skills-only class with no public performance opportunities, in line with health and safety standards.
Ballet
Classes develop work ethic and class etiquette, perseverance, dedication, motivation, stamina, flexibility, and strength, alongside a thorough understanding of good posture and technique to support all other forms of dance.
Dance Acro
Combining dance technique with acrobatic elements, Dance Acro builds strength and flexibility throughout the lower and upper body, creating body awareness and confidence when performing trick-based skills.
Musical Theatre
Students build confidence combining acting, singing, and dance skills in production numbers from West End, Broadway, and film. Teachers encourage pupils to develop and express their personalities across all three performance disciplines.
Singing
Group ensemble singing with repertoire drawn from Musical Theatre, Pop, and Rock. Students enjoy the opportunity to sing solo as their confidence and ability grow, in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment.
Street Jazz
Combining the rhythm and groove of street dance with the sharp, expressive movements of jazz, these dynamic classes feature high-energy routines set to popular music. Students are encouraged to develop creativity, personal style, confidence, and teamwork.
Joel Rothwell
Co-Manager
Joel grew up performing from the age of four and immersed himself in the Bristol performing scene, appearing on stages including The Bristol Hippodrome and The Weston Playhouse. Before beginning his professional training, he worked as a singer and dancer at Butlins Minehead Resort. He later graduated from Italia Conti in 2024, specialising in Musical Theatre, achieving a First-Class Honours degree. He also holds a Diploma in Musical Theatre from the London College of Music.
Performance credits include guest vocalist for the Northern Musical Theatre Orchestra, workshop cast for the new musical Sugarbye, Children’s Director and Dance Captain on the official UK Tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the New Victoria Theatre.
Alongside his performance career, Joel has taught at various local schools including Alexandra Dance Co and has delivered Musical Theatre training at Associates Woking. He is dedicated to inspiring and nurturing the next generation of artists, helping young performers build confidence, develop their craft, and fall in love with the industry.
Lauren Clinton
Co-Manager
Lauren began dancing at the age of eight, training at a small dance school in Ireland, with hopes that someday she will make it as a professional dancer. At 15, she was awarded a scholarship to a performing arts school in Liverpool. She then moved to England to board and pursue her dream of a career in performing.
During this exciting period, Lauren performed on stage and took part in prestigious competitions and television shows, including the Dance World Cup in Barcelona, Britain’s Got Talent, The Greatest Dancer, and The X Factor. One of her most cherished memories from this time was performing at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre for a national competition her school was taking part in, Lauren was the lead and felt this was a great honor and place to represent her company.
At 18, Lauren was offered a place at London Studio Centre, where she trained as a jazz dancer while also specialising in singing. During her time in London, she embraced every opportunity to perform, regularly taking part in open mic nights, writing music, and producing her own songs. Her passion for music and singing continued to grow throughout her training.
Alongside her studies, Lauren taught ballet and commercial dance at a school in East Dulwich, where she contributed to showcases and weekly technique classes. This was a particularly rewarding and fulfilling experience.
Lauren is passionate about making the most of every day and feels incredibly grateful to work in an environment that nurtures students’ performing talents. Each day brings new and exciting opportunities at Italia Conti, and Lauren is proud to be part of such a vibrant and inspiring community.
