Inspired by the life of the 17th century poet and feminist Emilia Bassano, and her speculated role as William Shakespeare’s “Dark Lady”, Emilia is a riotous and witty reclaiming of the life of an exceptional woman. Morgan Lloyd Malcolm represents the stories of women everywhere whose narratives have been written out of history.
