COURSE SUMMARY

The Royal Academy of Dance Vocational Grades Programme provide a laddered in-depth study of ballet, developing music, performance and technique. The exam syllabus is highly focused and practical. Students are required to have the maturity and technical aptitude for demanding study. In addition to classes, students will be expected to revise exercise formats and technical corrections in their own time and be expected to do their own self-study.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Classes take place weekly in the evenings during term time.

Students are auditioned into a class by trialing a class viewed either by the Head of Ballet or the class teacher. Places are dependent on students being at the correct standard to execute the work to a safe and satisfactory standard. Teaching staff on the course will be qualified teachers with the Royal Academy of Dance, Italia Conti faculty members or a Royal Academy of Dance Examiner.

SYLLABUS

There are two adjacent syllabi for students to select from; once selected, students are required to follow the complete syllabus in its entirety. It is expected that students following the pointe work option will be required to work on pointe. For the Intermediate Foundation, the teacher will assess the suitability for pointe work, for other levels, dancers should have a good level of pointe.
