COURSE FEES Fees are payable termly in advance. In cases of hardship for students on full-time courses, special arrangements for payment of tuition fees will be considered. These arrangements must be confirmed in writing. Notice in writing of the proposed withdrawal of a student prior to his/her course completion must be received at least one full term in advance. Failure to give the required notice will entail payment of the full fees due. Course fees are as follows: ACTORS COURSES Non UK & EU Students - £4590 per term. Foundation in Acting – 2 years Part-time SINGING COURSES (from 16 years) - £3850 per term
The Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA) were introduced by the Government in September 1999 to provide funding for talented students from the UK and other EU countries. Currently the 3 Year performing Arts Diploma Course attracts this funding. The award covers the course fees charged excluding the student prevailing rate fee. Application can also be made for a meanstested maintenance award. Applicants for the award are selected by the Academy on the basis of their talents shown during performance at the audition. Financial situations can only be taken into consideration as a secondary factor. From September 2004 funding for BA (hons) Acting Course Students from the UK & EU will attract fees funding in the same way as other degree courses. This course is funded via London South Bank University. Successful applicants from financially disadvantaged backgrounds may apply for further help from their Local Education Authority, the Student Loans Company and from the University Hardship Fund. The Academy and Associate Schools award a limited number of Scholarships for full-time and short course training annually. The scholarships vary in value and are always for tuition fees only.
Charitable trusts and foundations have helped finance successful UK pupils in the past. Details of these can be found in the Directory of Grant-Making Trusts available at local reference libraries. These can also be accessed on the internet. The introduction of the Dance & Drama Awards and state funded H.E. Awards has resulted in the decline by the majority of LEAs to offer students on full-time courses Awards. It is worth noting that LEAs are still at liberty to offer discretionary awards and some students, particularly pupils in secondary education and on one year student courses, have been supported by their authority. LEA have, from time to time, supported students on short courses. The Italia Conti Trust is a registered charity and offers support to genuine hardship cases but normally, although not exclusively, only to students who are progressing from one course to another or to students who are currently training on one of their full-time courses. A special provision is usually made for an outstanding Associate School Student who has been selected for a place in the Theatre Arts School and who would be unable to undertake full-time training without financial help. Auditions for this special Theatre Arts School scholarship are held separately and Associate Schools are notified independently regarding audition dates, criteria and procedures. |
