At Italia Conti, our philosophy is centred on developing versatile actors who can work in a range of styles and media. We take a holistic approach to training, offering a variety of techniques for creating and developing character, and encouraging students to be original and individual in their work. Our skilled practitioners guide students through intensive practical training in acting, movement, voice, and singing, whilst also providing opportunities to integrate these skills. Through a combination of technical classes, contextual practice, and project work, students are able to advance their skills and knowledge, and apply them in rehearsal and performance contexts. We believe in preparing students for a career in the performance arts industry and fostering a culture of dedication and perseverance.
Italia Conti is centred on helping actors succeed across a variety of styles and mediums. We approach our training actors as individuals, with their own strengths and weaknesses, and with their own full history of experiences and opinions. Italia Conti does not seek to mould actors to any one method or system of Acting, rather, it makes available to its students a wide range of ideas and training methods, so that each student can construct a personal ‘tool box’ of ways of working. That said, the School of Acting has clear theories about training and performance and upholds philosophies about the role of Theatre in society which permeates the teaching. We offer a range of techniques and approaches to character, skill and rehearsal development through the work of Stanislavski, Chekhov, Meisner, and Laban amongst others, alongside the contemporary work of Uta Hagen, Tom Salinski, Viola Spolin, Sharrell D. Luckett, and Tia M. Shaffer to ensure an up-to-date, useful, and inspiring training experience.
