Italia Conti’s new MFA Teaching and Coaching: The Speaking Voice is either a one-year full-time or two-year part-time course leading to a qualification that will equip each student to teach voice skills classes and production support (theatre, screen, audio) to performance art students and coach performance in a conservatoire and industry setting.
The course distinguishes between the roles of voice teaching and coaching; teaching focussed on providing a journey of vocal development, and coaching as guiding an actor through vocal challenges specific to medium/script needs or other voice users through vocal demands inherent in their profession.
The course is designed to develop creative and innovative voice teachers and coaches (who already have an understanding of acting and performance through their own training or professional experience) to be able to teach voice effectively in actor training settings. Further graduates of the MFA will be able to coach to a professional standard for theatre, film, TV and Audio.
For part-time students, the course will run September through to August in the first year, and September through to September in the second year. The part-time option will be available as of September 2023.
For full-time students, the course will commence in September and will conclude the following September. Please note that the full-time option is not currently available, but will be in the future. If you are interested in only the full-time option, please contact us for further information.
UK Tuition Fees | £6500 per year (PT); £11,200 per year (FT) for the MA. There is an additional cost for students undertaking the MFA modules.
Deposit | £275 (The deposit is refundable within 14 calendar days of the payment being received by Italia Conti but will not be refunded thereafter for non-enrolment. It will be held by Italia Conti and will be refundable on completion of the course, without interest, less any outstanding sums owed by the student to Italia Conti.)

After completing the application process you will be invited to attend an interview where you will discuss with the Course Team your previous training, and performance/directing/teaching experience. You may be required to demonstrate and/or lead some vocal and text-analysis skills.

Applicants should have completed Italia Conti’s application form by the 1st May in the year of intended start in order to be considered for interview.
