Audition Fees and Deposit

Audition Fee

试镜费： £45 (non-refundable) for all full-time vocational courses.

Eligible applicants may apply for an audition fee waiver through either of the following routes:

Route A: household income below £26,000 per year.
Route B: household income below £32,000 per year, together with at least one published contextual eligibility factor:
- a declared disability;
- care experience or care-leaver status;
- young adult carer status;
- estranged student status;
- residence in an area identified through relevant Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) or POLAR4 measures;
- a Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showman or Boater background;
- refugee status; or
- a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background.

Fee-waiver applications must be submitted and approved before completing the course application and paying the audition fee. Fees already paid cannot be retrospectively waived or refunded. Audition Fee Waivers are guaranteed when an applicant meets the eligibility criteria and can demonstrate eligibility through a successful application.

Course Deposit

Course Deposit: £150 – £275 (Refundable within 14 days of receipt but non-refundable for non-enrolment). The deposit is refunded on course completion minus any fees owed by the student.

Student Finance and Loan Options

Student Loans Company (SLC)

Students on our higher education course are potentially eligible for funding through the Student Loans Company (SLC). Students who are eligible for a tuition fee loan from the UK government are able to study now and pay later.

Access to tuition fee and maintenance loans depends on your individual financial circumstances and the course’s eligibility.

If you are eligible for a tuition fee loan, you will not have to pay any fees up front. You will not start paying your fees back until you are earning a reasonable income.

Student Finance Wales

Please note our courses currently do not have designation for student support from Medr meaning that students ordinarily domiciled in Wales are not eligible for student loans from Student Finance Wales. This change does not affect continuing Welsh students, who remain eligible for funding under the rules in place when they began their studies.

Advanced Learner Loans

Available for students aged 19+ on eligible diploma courses. The maximum loan amount is £22,185, covering tuition fees.

Distance Learning Courses and SAAS (Scottish Students)

Students ordinarily resident in Scotland should be aware that SAAS funding is not currently available for tuition fees or maintenance costs for the distance-learning BA Professional Arts Practice Top-Up. Applicants should consider how they will fund the course before accepting an offer and consult SAAS for the latest guidance.

Italia Conti Scholarships

A limited number of competitive, merit-based scholarships are awarded each year to applicants who demonstrate exceptional talent, potential and suitability for professional training through the audition and recall process.

Applicants do not need to submit a separate scholarship application. Eligible candidates who have been offered a place on a full-time undergraduate degree or Professional Diploma course are automatically considered as part of the admissions process.

Scholarships may provide a full or partial reduction in tuition fees or, in some circumstances, a contribution towards living costs. The number, value and type of awards available may vary each year and are subject to available funding. Scholarship consideration does not guarantee that an award will be made.

Awards are normally offered for the duration of the course, subject to annual review and satisfactory progression, attendance, engagement and conduct. Full eligibility requirements and conditions are set out in the Financial Support and Scholarships Policy which can be found here: Our Policies.

Named Scholarships

The Stage Scholarship is a full scholarship awarded each year to a high performing auditionee on one of the four main strands of study; Acting, Acting (Musical Theatre), Dance or Musical Theatre.

The Noel Coward Scholarships, announced in 2026, are full scholarships awarded to a high performing auditionee on each of the four main strands of study; Acting, Acting (Musical Theatre), Dance or Musical Theatre.

Italia Conti Bursaries

Italia Conti offers a limited amount of bursary funding to help reduce financial barriers for applicants who may otherwise be unable to undertake their training. Bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need and contextual eligibility, rather than audition performance or merit.

Applicants who have received an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree or Professional Diploma course may apply through one of two eligibility routes:

Route A: household income below £26,000 per year.
Route B: household income below £32,000 per year and at least one of the following contextual factors:
- a declared disability;
- care experience or care-leaver status;
- young adult carer status;
- estranged student status;
- residence in an area identified through relevant Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) or POLAR4 measures;
- a Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showman or Boater background;
- refugee status; or
- a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background.

Applicants must also normally be resident in the UK, be new to Higher Education and have attended a UK state school. Full eligibility requirements and evidence requirements are set out in the [Financial Support and Scholarships Policy].

Bursary support may include a partial or full reduction in tuition fees, a contribution towards living costs of up to £5,000 per year, or a one-off payment of up to £2,000. The form and value of support will depend on assessed need, individual circumstances and the funding available.

Funding is limited. Meeting the Route A or Route B eligibility criteria means that an applicant may be considered for support, but it does not guarantee an award. Not all eligible applicants will receive bursary funding.

Applications are invited after an offer of study has been made. All completed applications are considered together after the audition and recall process has concluded, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. This allows the available funding to be allocated consistently and directed towards applicants with the greatest assessed need.

Dance & Drama Awards (DaDA)

Dance and Drama Awards (DaDAs) are available to eligible students offered a place on the Level 6 Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre or Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance.

Unfortunately, DaDAs cannot be awarded to students studying on degree courses as the funding is only offered to Level 6 Triity Diploma students.

Italia Conti receives a limited annual allocation of DaDA funding from the Department for Education. Applicants are ranked according to the talent and professional potential demonstrated at audition, and the available awards are offered in order of audition ranking. Receiving an offer of study does not guarantee DaDA funding.

It is important to distinguish between being offered a DaDA and the value of the support received:

Audition performance determines which applicants are offered a DaDA.
Household income determines how much financial support an awarded student receives.

Italia Conti does not award “full” or “partial” DaDAs according to audition performance. Successful applicants are offered a DaDA, after which their support is calculated using the nationally prescribed means-testing arrangements. The funding level is not determined by Italia Conti and cannot be increased or varied by the institution.

For the 2026/27 academic year, the national means-testing scale covers household incomes from under £21,000 to £90,000. Students from households with an income of £90,001 or more are not eligible for DaDA support. Depending on household income and where the student lives while studying, an award may provide:

support towards tuition fees;
a contribution towards living and learning costs; or
both tuition-fee and living-cost support.

The means test may leave a student contribution towards tuition fees. In some cases, Italia Conti may separately award a merit-based scholarship to cover some or all of this contribution. Scholarship funding is limited, awarded at the institution’s discretion and is not guaranteed alongside a DaDA.

Charitable Trusts and Local Education Authority (LEA) Awards

Charitable trusts and foundations have helped finance successful UK pupils in the past. Details can be found in the Directory of Grant-Making Trusts (available online or at local reference libraries).

The Italia Conti Trust is a registered charity and offers support to genuine hardship cases but normally, although not exclusively, only to students who are progressing from one course to another or to students who are currently training on one of their full-time courses. A special provision is usually made for an outstanding Associate School student who has been selected for a place in the Theatre Arts School and who would be unable to undertake full-time training without financial help.

The introduction of the Dance and Drama Awards and state funded higher education awards has resulted in a decline in the majority of LEA awards for full-time courses. However, LEAs are still at liberty to offer discretionary awards, and students are advised to explore this avenue.

Trusts

The Wayne Sleep Foundation

Awards (bursaries) for UK performing arts students to help with accommodation and living costs. The latest deadline for applications is 17th May 2026 and you need to submit your application directly to the Foundation. Apply here

The Split Infinitive Trust

Their priority is supporting individual students on acting or musical theatre courses, especially those from Yorkshire. They may also support students of the performance arts, such as dancing, singing and musical instruments, again from Yorkshire. Average bursaries between £250 and £500. Apply through email using the form linked on the page above. Next application deadline is 12 noon, Friday 19 June 2026. Apply here

National Youth Arts Trust

Means-tested bursaries up to £1000 for Music, Dance and Drama bursaries – Italia Conti students are eligible under the Drama bursary. Bursaries are for audition recall and tuition fees as well as for costs of travel to and from class, books and other educational materials or part time drama classes. Apply through the ‘Apply Now’ link on the page above – the next deadline is 3 June 2026. Apply here

Portal Trust

To apply for a bursary, you must:

Be under 25 on the first day of your course
Come from a low-income or disadvantaged background
Permanently live in one of their named inner London boroughs – Camden, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith, Fulham, Islington, Kensington, Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth, Westminster and the City of London.

Black Artists Grant

The Black Artists Grant (BAG) offered by Creative Debuts as financial support to help Black artists. They can spend the grant on whatever they want – be that make new work, buy equipment or materials, travel, research, visit exhibitions or conferences, or to even just cover some life expenses. There are no deadlines – they provide a £500 grant every month. Apply through the form on their website. Apply here

New Earth Trust

The bursary is awarded to a drama school student of East Asian/Southeast Asian descent who, in the opinion of the judging panel, has best demonstrated that they have the talent, skills and commitment to succeed as a professional actor. Eligible applicants must be able to work in the UK and have at least one parent of East or Southeast Asian descent. East or Southeast Asian descent includes: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, North Korea, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and their Diasporas. It aims to ease the pathway from graduating student to professional actor by providing £1,000 towards additional expenses incurred in that transitional period; a FREE Standard Headshot Package provided by Jeremy Ang Photography; a FREE set of casting workshops with The Acting Habit; as well as a FREE year’s subscription to Spotlight. Mab Gwalia Drama Student Scholarship

In partnership with Manic Street Preachers, the Mab Gwalia Welsh Drama Student Scholarship awards up to £15,000 each academic year to support up to three eligible students – based on financial circumstances and a personal statement. Apply direct through the link. Apply here

Leathersellers' Undergraduate Student Grants Programme

Leathersellers’ Undergraduate Student Grants Programme aims to support undergraduate students who are care experienced, and/or are students of the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools or Colfe’s School, whose circumstances may otherwise prevent them from achieving their goals. Finnart House School Trust

Provide scholarships to Jewish students in the UK under the age of 21 who show promise, resilience, and determination to succeed but require support to access further or higher education in the UK. Studio and Rehearsal Wear: Students are required to purchase specific clothing and footwear for classes (full kit list provided upon enrolment).
Books, Stationery, Computer/Laptop: Not included in tuition fees.
Headshots: Year 2 students will be expected to pay for professional headshots.
Year 3 Students: Should expect additional costs for personal professional materials, registrations (e.g., Spotlight directory).

When you're sitting there trying to give yourself to the class, to your training, which you have tried so hard to get here and then for that to be ruined by the negative thoughts of ‘do I have enough money to be here right now?’, it's really nice to have someone who's really on your side to get something which means a lot to you, and I think Conti have done that for me every year that I have been here. Having a bursary is huge to our industry because it's allowing us to have actors from different backgrounds, dancers from different backgrounds, singers from different backgrounds, and getting a chance to just merge everyone all together, I think that is so important.
