Acting Training for TV and Film UK

Modern actors rarely work exclusively in one medium. Many move between television dramas, feature films, theatre productions, commercials, and voice work throughout their careers.

That’s why our acting training is designed to prepare students for a wide range of professional opportunities.

Throughout the course, students develop practical experience in:

• Acting for camera
• Television and film scene work
• Audio drama and voice-over
• Self-tape preparation
• Professional rehearsal techniques

Alongside this, students continue to strengthen the core acting skills that underpin every performance, regardless of medium.

Learn the Technical Skills Screen Actors Need

Acting for television and film requires a different approach from stage performance. The camera captures every detail, making precision, focus, and authenticity essential.

At Italia Conti, students learn how to:

• Adjust performance for different shot sizes
• Work naturally within the frame
• Maintain accurate continuity between takes
• Use eyelines effectively
• Respond truthfully in a close-up performance

These technical skills are developed through practical camera sessions that build confidence in professional filming environments.

Build Strong Foundations in Acting Technique

Successful screen performances begin with strong acting technique.

我们的 BA (Hons) Acting Course combines practical training in:

• Character development
• Script and text analysis
• Voice and speech
• Actors’ movement
• 即兴创作
• Acting through song
• Audio (radio drama, voice over, gaming)
• Screen (TV & Film)

Students explore the work of influential practitioners, including Stanislavski, Meisner, Michael Chekhov, Uta Hagen, and others, allowing them to develop a personal approach to performance that works across both stage and screen.

Progress Through Three Years of Professional Training

Training is carefully structured so students build skills progressively throughout the course.

In the first year, students establish strong technical foundations while beginning dedicated camera training.

The second year expands into filmed scene work alongside advanced text work, stage combat, character voice, radio drama, and more challenging rehearsal projects.

By the third year, the focus shifts towards professional readiness. Students work with industry directors on public productions while also creating filmed monologues and completing screen projects that contribute to professional showreel material.

Prepare for the Industry

One of the biggest advantages of professional acting training is understanding how the industry operates before you graduate.

Throughout the course, students benefit from:

• Mock auditions
• Industry workshops and seminars
• Agent interview preparation
• Professional development tutorials
• Guidance on headshots, CVs, and showreels

This practical preparation helps students feel confident moving from training into professional employment.
