Audition Fee Waiver

Eligibility Criteria

You may apply for an audition fee waiver if one or more of the following applies:

Your household income is under £25,000 per annum.

You are currently in, or have recently left, the care system.

You are an independent applicant (aged 18+) who has not lived in the family home for more than 24 months and has been self-supporting.

Eligibility Criteria

You may apply for an audition fee waiver if one or more of the following applies to you:

Route A applies where household income is below £26,000 per annum. Applicants meeting Route A are not required to demonstrate an additional contextual factor.

Route B applies where household income is below £32,000 per annum and the applicant meets at least one contextual eligibility criterion. These include declared disability, care experience or care leaver status, young adult carer status, estrangement, residence in an area identified through IMD, TUNDRA or POLAR4 indicators, Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showman or Boater background, refugee status, or Black, Asian or minority ethnic background.

Route C applies where an applicant, group of applicants, or target feeder school are automatically offered access to audition fee waivers. In this case the applicant will not need to apply and will be provided directly with the audition fee waiver code to enter when completing the application form.

Additional Eligibility Categories

You may also be eligible for an audition fee waiver if you fall into one of the following groups:

Young person in local authority care or a care leaver

Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showman or Boater student

Young adult carer

Estranged student

Refugee

Student from an area of multiple deprivation

Student from a low participation neighbourhood

Postcode Checks

Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD)

To check the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) for your postcode, please use the online IMD lookup tool. Your postcode must fall within deciles 1 to 4 (see column F).

Low Participation Neighbourhood (POLAR4)

To check whether you live in a low participation neighbourhood, please use the POLAR4 postcode lookup tool. Your postcode must be quintile 1 or 2 under POLAR4 (see table on map).

Required Evidence

All applications must be supported by written evidence. Depending on your circumstances, this may include:

Income Evidence

A P60 or self-assessment tax return for the previous tax year for each parent or guardian in the household.

Benefits Evidence

DWP benefit confirmation covering all 12 months of the 2024-25 tax year. This may include an Annual Summary or monthly statements for benefits such as Universal Credit (UC).

Residency Evidence

A copy of your passport as proof of residency must be included with your application.

You must upload at least one piece of supporting evidence, plus your passport. Additional documents may be included where relevant.
