Study Support

Our Approach to Inclusive Learning

Italia Conti is a fully inclusive organisation and adopts the Social Model of Disability. This means we make anticipatory adjustments so that all students benefit from accessible, equitable learning environments.

Support is person-centred and tailored, with teams working together to ensure students are supported throughout their training.

Academic Skills Support

Our Learning Support team provides targeted academic help to build confidence and clarity in your studies.

Additional Support: Drop-in academic tutorials and assessment clinics are offered on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year, providing flexible access to guidance when you need it most.

Additional Learning Support (ALS)

Our dedicated Additional Learning Support Tutor works closely with the Wellbeing Team, Heads of Year, personal tutors and teaching staff to deliver the right support for each student.

We encourage students to self-disclose hidden impairments such as dyslexia to ensure equality of access.

Students who declare an ALS or disability need are automatically offered regular support sessions.

Students may also request or self-refer to ALS through their Head of Year, the Wellbeing Team or Course Administrator.

Please note: Italia Conti does not fund diagnostic assessments of need.

Reasonable Adjustments

Reasonable adjustments are made to support all students who need them, wherever appropriate. Differentiated teaching strategies are utilised by all tutors and creatives to ensure that students’ individual needs are met.

Adjustments, particularly within practical disciplines, are discussed on a case-by-case basis to reflect:

All adjustments are aimed at supporting full access to learning while maintaining the integrity of practical training.

Where appropriate, reasonable adjustments are coordinated through our Support Through Studies policy. This may include the development of an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), which outlines agreed adjustments and provides a structured framework for monitoring and reviewing support throughout a student’s training.

Adjustments to assessment are considered proactively where required, and are implemented in line with academic regulations, in collaboration with our validating and awarding bodies where appropriate.

Reasonable adjustments are designed to enable equitable access to learning and assessment. They do not alter or replace the learning outcomes of a course, which all students are required to meet.

How We Monitor and Support Your Progress

We monitor all students regularly so support can be proactive, not reactive. Prospective and current students are welcome to discuss their needs or disabilities with us at any time.

Our teams work closely together to ensure care, progress and wellbeing remain central throughout each student’s journey.

Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) and Funding Support

Students applying for a degree course may be entitled to additional funding to support their learning.

If you receive a student loan through Student Finance, you can apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) by providing evidence of your disability, which may include conditions such as dyslexia or anxiety.

Once assessed, Student Finance will determine the type of support you are entitled to.
