About Us

Italia Conti Sidcup and Chislehurst is the leading Performing Arts Academy in the area.

Our huge selection of weekend classes for children and young people aged 3 to 18+ years are led by trained industry professionals.

Pupils may choose one or more of the following classes: Singing, Acting, Musical Theatre, LAMDA Examinations in Speech & Drama, ISTD Ballet, ISTD Modern and ISTD Tap, Technical Jazz, Contemporary, Street, Acro, Film & Television and Dance on Film.

Whilst many dance schools offer set packages, with us pupils may take as many or as few subjects as they wish.

Students also have the opportunity to appear in various shows and events produced exclusively for Italia Conti Sidcup & Chislehurst students.

We offer fun-filled workshops during school holidays, alongside our Summer School weeks where students rehearse and perform a full two-hour production in just five days.

We are pleased to offer selected pupils the opportunity to audition for representation by the prestigious Italia Conti Agency.

Whilst many attend to enjoy the experience of high-quality training for recreational purposes, some pupils may be designated as Professional Students. These pupils attend all day and achieve exceptionally high standards in preparation for full-time professional training and careers in the entertainment industry.

What We Do

Fun sessions combining gymnastic techniques and dance to help students develop performance tricks, strength, flexibility, and confidence. Suitable for beginners and experienced gymnasts alike.
Covers a variety of dramatic techniques including improvisation, scripted texts, mime, character development, practitioner study, and performance work. Younger groups learn through play, whilst older students develop scripted and character-based performance skills.
The foundation of strong dance training following the ISTD examination syllabus. Classes range from Pre-Primary through to Intermediate Ballet, with examination opportunities available throughout the year.
A modern fusion of lyrical, jazz, storytelling, and expressive movement. Choreographers have trained and worked with leading names in the Contemporary and Commercial dance industries.
Interactive sessions teaching students how to dance for screen whilst also learning about choreography, camera work, movement direction, editing, and production techniques.
Interactive classes covering directing, lighting design, sound recording, continuity, production, editing, and set design, led by tutors with professional industry experience.
London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art examinations in Speech and Drama for students aged 8 to 18. Higher level examinations contribute towards UCAS points.
West End-style training led by directors, choreographers, and musical directors with extensive professional experience. Students develop singing, dancing, and acting skills through routines and scenes.
Group singing classes covering pop, musical theatre, jazz, and classical styles. Vocal coaches focus on technique, range, diction, breath control, and vocal confidence
Commercial dance inspired by music videos and current pop culture. High-energy classes taught by choreographers with experience on productions including Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor, and The Greatest Dancer.
Rhythm-based dance training following the ISTD syllabus, from Pre-Primary through to Intermediate level.
A combination of technical movement and modern music. Classes include warm-ups, stretching, technical exercises, and routines inspired by pop, theatrical, and classic jazz styles.

Darren Tough

Principal

Darren has been a #ContiKid for 30 years.

He started his performance training in 1995 at Italia Conti Chislehurst before being offered the opportunity to train full-time at the Italia Conti Academy in London.

Over the last twenty years, he has had the pleasure of passing on the training he received to the next generation of Italia Conti Chislehurst pupils and is proud to count many West End performers, film actors, television talent, and pop artists amongst his former students.

Darren has choreographed and directed productions across the country including Seussical The Musical, Guys and Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors, The Addams Family, Legally Blonde, The Wind in the Willows, Fame, Oliver, Annie, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Dick Whittington, and many more.

Alongside his teaching and directing work, Darren has enjoyed a successful performing career with professional credits including Only Fools and Horses The Musical in the West End, the UK tour of Tonight’s The Night, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Wild Party, Macbeth, and numerous pantomime productions.

He also won a Best Actor Award for his leading role in the film Goodbye to Yesterday and has appeared in productions including Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Lee Nelson’s Well Funny People, Dark Matters: Twisted But True, and Marilyn & Me.

His voice recording credits include The Battle of Britain for the BBC, Nickelodeon’s Genie in the House, and Roger Waters’ concept album Ca Ira.

    Entry Requirements

    Age Range

    For students aged 3 to 18 years.

    Entry

    No audition is required for our classes, as we wish to encourage participation in the arts for all abilities. We offer a free trial session before you commit to enrolling. This can be arranged by emailing: associatessidcup@italiaconti.co.uk

    Uniform

    Italia Conti Associates uniform can be purchased directly at the school on Saturdays.

    Welfare

    The safety and wellbeing of our students is of paramount importance at Italia Conti Associates.

    Our students are taught and cared for by experienced, trained, DBS-checked staff, and a minimum of two trained First Aiders are always present.

    We recommend students bring plenty of water and snacks with them to sessions.
