Our Acting (Musical Theatre) Summer School places character, text and storytelling at the heart of performance. Through acting, singing and movement, you’ll explore how a character’s thoughts, feelings and intentions carry from spoken scenes into song.

This intensive week introduces young performers to acting-led musical theatre training. You’ll develop your acting skills alongside your singing and physical expression, learning to make confident, considered choices in rehearsal and performance.

  • Pre-vocational level training: an intensive programme designed to prepare students for full-time training in Performing Arts.
  • Expert tuition from experienced staff and industry professionals across acting, voice, movement, and more.
  • Comprehensive acting and musical theatre curriculum: covering acting scenes, acting skills, improvisation, acting through song, ensemble singing, musical theatre workshop and voice.
  • Open to ages 12 to 18: students are divided into groups according to age, ensuring tailored training at every level.
  • End-of-week sharing performance: showcase your work to friends and family on the final day.
Free Italia Conti T-shirt included with enrolment.

If you’re beginning to think about a future in performing arts, this course is designed to help you take that next step with purpose and clarity.

Are you a…

  • Young actor who enjoys singing and wants to bring greater depth to your performance of songs?
  • Musical theatre student who wants to strengthen your acting and character work?
  • Performer interested in both plays and musicals?
  • Student considering future vocational training in Acting or Acting (Musical Theatre)?
  • Committed young performer ready to build technique, discipline and confidence alongside others who share your interests?

If you answered any of these questions ‘YES’ – then this course would be perfect for you!

Classes may include:

  • Acting Scenes: Exploring scenes and breaking down text to find character and relationships.
  • Acting Skills: Exploring different acting techniques and practitioners through practice-based exercises.
  • Devising: Exploring story-creation and storytelling, working in groups to develop ideas from a stimulus.
  • Improvisation: Exploring multiple characters, situations, and relationships in a non-text-based environment.
  • Acting Through Song: Exploring storytelling and character work through singing.
  • Singing Technique: Develop the foundations of confident singing through exercises exploring breath, posture, tone and articulation, then apply these skills to musical theatre material.

  • Voice: exploring vocal ease, support, and clarity of speech through text and non-text-based activities.
  • Dance and Musicality: Build coordination, rhythm and confidence in movement, applying these skills to character and storytelling.

  • Musical Theatre Scene Workshop: Bring spoken scenes, song and movement together, exploring how to sustain character as a scene moves between different forms of expression.

  • Musical Theatre Ensemble Workshop: Bring song and movement together, exploring how to sing and act together, putting the story at the heart of the piece.
