Derek Hough trained at Italia Conti in the early 2000s before forging an extraordinary international career in dance and entertainment. He rose to global prominence as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars, where he achieved the remarkable distinction of winning the competition six times and earning four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography.
On stage, Derek performed in the West End production of Footloose (Novello Theatre, 2006) and has toured extensively with his live show Derek Hough: Symphony of Dance, including the Encore North American tour in 2024–2025. In 2016, he starred as Danny Zuko in NBC’s Grease Live!, showcasing the versatility that has defined his career.
Derek has received four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography (2013, 2015, 2021, 2023) for Dancing with the Stars.
He holds the record for the most wins by a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars (six wins).
His West End credits include Footloose (2006). Starred in NBC’s Grease Live! (2016) as Danny Zuko.
