Daniel Mays trained at Italia Conti in the 1990s before building a distinguished career across television, film and theatre. An early appearance in EastEnders marked the beginning of a body of work that has grown to encompass some of British drama’s most celebrated productions.
His film credits include Mike Leigh’s critically acclaimed Vera Drake (2004) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. On television, he is recognised for his compelling portrayal of Danny Waldron in the BBC series Line of Duty, and he stars as Greg in the BBC and Amazon series The Outlaws. In 2023, he brought Brian Boyce to life in the BBC drama The Gold, further demonstrating the breadth and range of his work.
Daniel received a BAFTA Television Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Line of Duty (Danny Waldron).
He has also received multiple British Independent Film Award nominations. His film credits include Vera Drake, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Outlaws, and The Gold.
